SOUTHPORT turned on the style to register a fifth straight but there was an element of pain in the pleasure.
Jason Gilchrist set the Sandgrounders on their way with a brilliant strike to bring up his 24th goal of the season but was carried off early in the second half after injuring an ankle under the challenge of Steph Morley.
David Morgan, another influential performer in Southport’s recent revival, was also unable to finish the game, leaving Kevin Davies’ improving squad stretched to the limit.
