ATHERTON did not look back after taking an early lead via Jordan Cover, who capitalised on a Boro defensive mistake. Boro keeper Connor Keane kept his side in the game when he made a great double save to deny Cover, whose shot came back off the post, and then Ben Hardcastle on the rebound.
Radcliffe enjoyed a decent spell at the start of the second half and almost got back on level terms when Louis Myers came agonisingly close and Liam Wood drew a fine save.
