DANIEL NTI scored the only goal to earn Nuneaton Town a first win under new manager Gary Charles.
The result lifts the Boro into 12th position in the National League North, overtaking their hosts Southport, who have now suffered three successive defeats.
The deciding moment came midway through the first half and was typical of a scrappy contest, Nti scoring with a deflected shot after receiving a ball from Luthur Wildin on the right before turning inside the area.
