Platt strike seals Alfreton’s survival

ALFRETON TOWN confirmed their place in next season’s National League North with a hard fought victory against FC United of Manchester.
Tom Platt volleyed home the only goal of the game from the edge of the box, the centre midfielder somehow hitting a half volley at pace over keeper Lloyd Allinson and under the bar after a loose ball bounced across the line.
Reds stopper Chris Elliott wasn’t tested throughout the game but his defence will be relieved that any half chances the visitors made sailed over the bar or fell wide of the goal.
