YORK CITY’S best ever unbeaten start to a league season was extended to a tenth game but the draw with Southport knocked them off the top of the table.
Away midfielder David Morgan blasted in a spectacular early opener at Bootham Crescent before Alex Kempster’s fifth goal of the campaign earned Steve Watson’s men a share of the spoils.
The Minstermen were not at their best and appeared to miss injured skipper Steve McNulty in the back four and target-man Jordan Burrow at the other end of the pitch.
