SOUTHPORT recorded their second victory in five days by beating North- West rivals Chester, however Port were in control than the scoreline might suggest.
The home side dominated proceedings in the first half and should have gone in at the break leading by more than the 3-1 scoreline.
Jack Bainbridge opened the scoring after nine minutes when a delightful through ball from midfield was missed by Chester’s Matty Williams which allowed the striker space to score from ten yards.
Louis Gray was then forced to make saves from Marcus Carver and Jack Archer.
