SCUNTHORPE’S players were unable to lift the gloom hanging over Glanford Park as they were humbled at home by Buxton. Diego De Girolamo’s second-half double, which sandwiched a fine finish from fullback Sam Minihan, secured an impressive victory for the Bucks.
Although admitting preparations for the clash had been “difficult” – with players, coaches and office staff not paid their September wages the day before – boss Jimmy Dean refused to use it an excuse.
