SCUNTHORPE all but secured a second-place finish by battering Blyth Spartans in a game impacting both ends of the table. Defeat for the visitors leaves their Step 2 status hanging by a thread, although Farsley’s loss at Darlington meant the Spartans remain out of the bottom four.
