Truro City set to play FA Trophy tie at Treyew Road

Truro City are set to return home to Treyew Road next month for their FA Trophy tie with Weston-super-Mare.
The National League South side have been playing at Torquay United’s Plainmoor Stadium since the start of the season, but are now preparing to head back to Cornwall.
Truro were kicked out of their ground by owners JIL, who wanted to build a Lidl supermarket on the site although building work still hasn’t begun with developers Helical Retail unable to reach an agreement with JIL to begin phase one of construction.
The club were told last week that Lidl have issued a termination notice to Helical cancelling their contract.
Contractually Helical, JIL and Truro City are bound together until September of next year on terms that the can continue to play football at Treyew Road until the end of this season.
The repair work needed at Treyew Road following the ground inspection by the National League has now been completed and the club expects the receiving of a ground grade B rating to be a formality.
However, last week the club announced that a decision on returning to their home ground wouldn’t be made until the new year as to not effect the current run of good form the team has been on.
But now, following discussions with the National League and FA, Truro have been given permission to play their FA Trophy tie on Saturday, December 15th at Treyew Road.
Truro have until 5pm on Thursday, December 13th to obtain the necessary ground grading.
Weston are against the match being moved venues. The club said: “We have objected to the move on the grounds that our supporters will have an additional 200 mile journey and that the Torquay Utd ground was an excellent venue for the tie. However, the decision has been made.”
