EBBSFLEET will head into the play-offs again – and play Hampton & Richmond – after coming up short in the title race.
Darren McQueen set up Anthony Cook for the only goal on five minutes, Cook leaving Craig Hill scrambling as he turned the ball into the net.
Hill was soon called into action again when he made a double save to deny Dave Winfield in quick succession.
With Oxford showing little enterprise, the crowd of 2,116 expected Ebbsfleet to add to their tally but their early goal proved to be the decider.
