BLYTH SPARTANS moved up to fourth place in the National League North with a confident victory over Southport. The Spartans dominated the game from the opening whistle and could have had a hatful of goals before half-time.
Damen Mullen shot narrowly wide after being put through by captain Robbie Dale, Nathan Buddle hit the crossbar, Adam Wrightson shot over from Dale’s cross and a fine save from the Sandgrounders’ new goalkeeper Jon Worsnop, signed this week from York City, kept out a good effort from Dale Hopson.
