DANNY MILLS scored Welling’s winner as they maintained their promotion push and pinned Hungerford in the relegation zone.
Brendan Kiernan had an early effort saved for the visitors at the near post by Crusaders keeper Michael Luyambula.
The hosts were soon handed a golden opportunity to strike first when Danilo Orsi-Dadomo was through on goal, but was pulled down by Jordan Gibbons.
Orsi-Dadomo stepped up to take the resultant penalty, but Wings keeper Dan Wilks got down low to save his tame spot kick.
