ST ALBANS CITY continued their upward momentum with victory over Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday, but had to rely on a Joe Newton own goal to secure the points.
It was the visitors who started the game the brighter with Clifford going close to opening the scoring in the 20th minute when he danced past a defender and struck the bar from the edge of the box.
Two minutes later and Alex Lankshear was the Saints’ saviour, heading an effort off the line.
Having survived spells of pressure, the home side started to grow into the game themselves...
