EBBSFLEET twice hit back to hold Chippenham in a result which did little to help either team.
A point meant the Fleet lost their grip on third place while Chippenham now trail Havant in seventh by three points, albeit that the teams meet on the final day.
Striker Jordan Young hit a post for Chippenham after 13 minutes but their impressive start to the game was rewarded on the half-hour when Joe Hanks curled in a rightfoot shot from 25 yards.
