Mark Molesley returns as Weymouth manager

Mark Molesley has been re-appointed manager of National League South side Weymouth, just days after ending his five month stint at Hayes & Yeading United.

The 43-year-old ended his playing career with Weymouth before being appointed manager in April 2017, replacing Jason Matthews, who he’d coached under. Having left in August 2020 following back-to-back promotions to the National League, Molesley has taken charge of Southend United, Aldershot Town, Gosport Borough and Hayes & Yeading before returning to the south coast.

Fittingly it’s again in place of Matthews, who had been in interim charge following Bobby Wilkinson’s shock departure last Wednesday.

Molesley (pictured from his first spell in charge) was in the stands for Monday’s abandoned fixture against Yeovil Town and will start his second spell this Saturday at Eastbourne Borough.

The former England C international won 90 of his 156 matches in charge of his first spell at Weymouth, a 58% win percentage being the second best for the Terras since 1950 (credit @TerraStatman).
