Match Preview: Taunton Town v Torquay United (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Struggling Taunton Town face Torquay United at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium on Tuesday looking to build on a win in their last league outing.

After securing all three points with a 1-0 victory over Farnborough on Saturday, Taunton sit 21st in the National League South.

They travel to play a Torquay side 19th in the standings, who lost in their last match, 1-0 against Bath City.

With 43 goals in 43 games so far this season, Taunton are the league’s second-lowest scorers with 1.0 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 68 goals at a rate of 1.6 per game.

Torquay, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.5 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.4. They have conceded 1.7 goals per game.

Town are in disappointing form in the National League South, with one win and two draws from their last six games.

With two wins and a draw over that period, United’s form is slightly better – they have taken seven points from 18, compared to the home team’s five.

Over the last two years, Taunton and Torquay have played each other twice. They won one each.

Their last meeting was on March 12, when Taunton won 3-0 away.
