Hornchurch overcame fellow promotion hopefuls Weston-super-Mare to go top of the National League South.
The Seagulls started the brightest, Arthur Nasta getting down low to first hold Charlie Cummins’ 18-yard strike before then parrying away Luke Spokes’ half-volley from a similar distance.
Henry Sandat then went close when clipping the bar from a free-kick out wide as he aimed to swing a delivery into the mixer.
