SAM Argent’s second five-goal haul of the season helped Basingstoke to a comprehensive victory over play-off chasing Tiverton at a sodden Camrose Stadium.
Basingstoke have a good home record this season and started confidently, Argent’s early penalty putting them a goal up at half-time.
Tiverton looked for a reaction in the second half, but Basingstoke quickly extended their lead. Argent’s second spot kick made it two before he poked an accurate finish past Martin Rice for his hat-trick within ten minutes of the restart.
