DENNIS Greene’s first game in charge of Tamworth ended in defeat as Royston proved party poopers thanks to a late Ben Martin goal.
Both sides had their moments in an entertaining first half, Royston taking the lead on 12 minutes as Josh Castiglione latched on to a through ball before taking the ball past Jas Singh and slotting home.
Tamworth were quickly back on level terms as Tyrell Waite collected Akwasi Asante's flick on and fired past Joe Welch.
The Lambs stepped things up and Waite had two chances while Chris Lait was also denied.
