HITCHIN squeezed their first win of the season in a tight and exciting game with the result in doubt right to the end.
Nuneaton began well with elaborate passing play, almost taking the lead following a defensive error but Marcus Kelly wasted his chance.
The hosts took the lead after 11 minutes when an unmarked Callum Stead steadied himself following an astute pass and he converted smartly.
