HITCHIN got off to a dream start as they raced into a three-goal lead inside the first 23 minutes.
The hosts were one to the good in the first minute when the prolific Diego Freitas ran unchallenged into the box to slip the ball neatly past Jonathan Hedge.
Ashley Hay then struck the foot of a post. With Mickleover struggling to settle they soon found themselves two down when Stan Georgiou’s looping ball was well controlled by Steve Cawley who finished smartly after 13 minutes.
