THE three points were fought for tooth and nail in this basement battle where all the goals came in the first half, which was a good deal better than the second, with exchanges even in a competitive encounter.
The Tulips made a purposeful start but forward moves tended to stutter and it was the hosts who took the lead after just over a quarter of an hour.
On-loan Hitchin keeper Joshua Strizovic sent out a long clearance and a bit of judicious passing saw the ball fall nicely for Daniel Stokoe who was able to pick his spot.
