BASINGSTOKE secured safety on the final day of the season in emphatic style with a dominant victory over champions Merthyr with Liam Ferdinand and George Reid scoring two each.
The home side started on the front foot and looked like the side with something to play for and took the lead in the 18th minute when Ferdinand swept home a loose ball inside the six-yard box after superb work from Robbie Gallagher on the left hand wing.
