POOLE kicked off the new season with victory against a Hanwell team that finished above them last season in an even, entertaining and combative game.
Harvey Slade proved the match winner, capping a fine performance with the only goal.
Poole had a good couple of early efforts, with Spalding’s shot blocked then Slade’s flicked header produced a good save from Beasant.
