NEWLY-promoted Yate Town started their season with a clean sheet and a point in a game that saw both defences on top.
Sholing had good periods of possession but they could not capitalise on them due to the well-organised home defence.
With Yate Town fielding six players making their debut, captain Joe Guest headed just wide from an early corner, but thereafter, despite Sholing playing some neat football with Michael Folivi prominent, neither goalkeeper was tested in the first half.
