A BRANDON Smalley goal was the difference between Bromsgrove Sporting and Worcester City in a drab encounter.
The former Rousler netted in the 61st minute after debutant Isaac Godwin was sent off for Sporting just before half-time.
The tenth minute saw Luke Benbow almost put Sporting into the lead after an outstanding first touch, but he dragged his effort wide of the goal.
In the 36th minute, Matt Richards had the ball in the net for Worcester, but it was ruled out for offside after Ellis Litherland made an initial save.
