CHARLIEMacDonald led a first-half goalfest as VCD raced into a four-goal lead inside the first 36 minutes on a desperate day for Herne Bay.
Former Brentford striker MacDonald had a hat-trick inside half an hour and added his fourth on 36 minutes to stun the shellshocked hosts.
Tom Carlton pulled one back before the break to give Bay a glimmer of hope.
But Alastair Gordon restored the four-goal lead just before halftime with VCD’s fifth of the afternoon.
