IN-FORM Wingate & Finchley missed the chance to leapfrog their Sussex opponents and increase the gap between themselves and the relegation places.
However, they were forced to recover from conceding an early goal to the Rooks, who started the afternoon almost equally desperate to get something from the game.
Lewes led on seven minutes thanks to Ronnie Conlon’s superb curling effort on seven minutes.
