BASINGSTOKE came out on top in a five-goal thriller despite Tooting and Mitcham equalising twice.
Simon Dunn got the ball rolling with an angled finish under McKenzie Foley after only 32 seconds but the visitors gained momentum as the half went on.
They hit the bar before Dontai Stewart arrived to finish Shakeel Morris’s cross at the far post.
Brad Wilson, pressed into an unfamiliar role at centre-back, split the away defence early in the second half with a pass that George Reid chased down and clipped into the far corner.
