■ SPORTS started brightly against a much changed Ashford Town and maintained that momentum to take all three points.
It was former Ashford man Ricky Wellard, with a thunderbolt from outside the box, that put Sports one goal up after 13 minutes.
Both sides then effectively cancelled each other out until half-time.
The second period saw Sports again start well and they doubled their lead from the spot after Giovanni Palmer was hacked down and Darryl Sanders stepped up.
