TWO late goals ensured Grays overcame a dogged Basildon side with David Knight netting a brace.
The Blues dominated but struggled to convert possession into goals until Knight came to the rescue.
Grays swept forward in a succession of raids – Freddie Moncur, Lewis Clark, and Mitch Hahn came close in a first half.
Basildon offered little going forward, leaving home keeper Danny Sambridge a virtual spectator.
