■ ALTHOUGH this game went to form, third-placed Canvey had to work harder than they might have expected to take three points from bottom-of-the table Romford.
The hosts’ early pressure came to nothing before Canvey went ahead with their first attack after 12 minutes.
Evans Kouassi broke down the right and his low cross was converted by Matthew Price from close range.
