Samuel Faniyan was bundled over in a promising position and referee Nicholas Metcalfe pointed to the spot. Mark Waters drove the penalty emphatically home to give the hosts the advantage.
But Guernsey were not overawed, and had two glorious chances to equalise; first, Matt Loaring worked a chance inside the penalty area but fired over the bar and a minute later, Ross Allen did the same.
