■ STEYNING went very direct from the off, perhaps due to the rain-heavy pitch, and created a couple of shots which were easily dealt with by Matte Pierson in the Grinstead goal.
The rest of the first half passed with a lot of endeavour and a couple of saves from Nathan Stroomberg-Clarkin goal.
Steyning needed their keeper again on a couple of occasions, the best being a tip over the bar from a shot by Charlie Harris that was destined for the top corner.
