■A draw at the Simarco Stadium condemned Basildon to relegation, despite a fighting second-half performance that could have delivered a victory.
A penalty from Kamani McFarlane put Witham ahead in the seventh minute, and the hosts should have increased their lead in a one-sided first half. Sonny Dutton and Anton Matthews went close, but the hosts failed to add to their score.
