VCD Athletic condemned beleaguered East Grinstead Town to their 15th league defeat of the season, boosting their own survival hopes with a vital victory in the battle at the foot of the table.
Victor Aiye opened the scoring after 19 minutes with a fierce strike that Daniel O’Donovan had no chance of stopping.
Michael Patrick-Fenn capitalised on East Grinstead’s failure to clear their lines just four minutes later, calmly tapping home a cross that the hosts should have dealt with far more decisively.
