Scott Goodwin appointed as new Gresley boss

FORMER Coventry City player Scott Goodwin has taken over at Evo-Stik NPL Division One South club Gresley.

FORMER Coventry City player Scott Goodwin has taken over at Evo-Stik NPL Division One South club Gresley.

The 37-year-old, who also played for Hereford United, Hednesford, Tamworth and Kettering, has previously managed Long Buckby.

Goodwin replaces Wayne Thornhill who resigned as Gresley boss last month following a mixed start to the season after the Moatmen reached the play-offs last term.

The club are in a good position, however, sitting just a point outside the play-off places following Saturday’s goalless draw against Sheffield.

Moatmen fans will be able to meet Goodwin on Tuesday night as he hosts an open training session at the club’s Moat Ground.

Players Jamie Barrett and Gary Ricketts will serve as assistant managers to Goodwin, whose first game in charge is Saturday’s trip to Belper Town.
