PRESTON NORTH END legend Paul McKenna is hanging up his boots after leaving Evo-Stik NPL Division One North side Bamber Bridge.

The 38-year-old joined Brig last September after a long and successful career in the Football League that started at Deepdale in 1996.

He left Preston in 2009 after racking up 425 appearances and scoring 30 times, moving on to Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Fleetwood Town.

He dropped into Non-League with Brig manager Neil Crowe saying it was “one of the biggest signings in the club’s history”.

The influential midfielder helped the club reach the Evo-Stik NPL Division One North play-offs last term before losing in the final to Darlington 1883.
