SALFORD CITY have boosted their attacking options with the loan signing of Alfreton Town winger John Johnston.

The Ammies thrashed Barwell 7-0 on Saturday but, due to injuries and suspensions, joint-bosses Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley have moved to bolster their ranks.

Pacy winger Johnston, 21, impressed during his time at Kidsgrove Athletic and Leek Town and earned a move to League One side Crewe Alexandra in January 2014.

Unfortunately he couldn’t force his way into the Railwaymen team and signed permanently for Alfreton last January after a successful loan spell.

Johnston has struggled to get into the Reds time as of late and has moved to Moor Lane until February 16 and is in contention for Salford’s game tonight (Tuesday) against Nantwich Town.
