PAUL MOORE has been charged with taking Colwyn Bay back up the Non-League Pyramid following their second successive relegation.
Former Hull City and Portsmouth player Moore replaces Kevin Lynch who was sacked in March, as the Seagulls gear up for next season in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One North.
The Welsh side finished second bottom in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier after their drop from the Conference North and Moore says he knows what is needed to be successful at Step 4.
Injury cut short his professional playing career and he had spells with Gosport Borough, Widnes, Runcorn and Warrington before moving into management with Cheshire club Datan.
He won promotion twice to the Mid Cheshire League Division One before taking charge at Congleton Town and then Leek Town.
He has since spent two years at his hometown club Warrington before moving on to Ashton Athletic and Clitheroe, where they narrowly missed out on the Evo-Stik NPL Division One play-offs.
Moore will be assisted by ex-Atherton LR and Runcorn Linnets boss Dave Hughes and former Reading, Rochdale, Leyton Orient, Carlisle and Brighton player Phil Hadland.
Moore said: “I am very excited to be joining Colwyn Bay FC and would like to thank the board of directors for putting their faith in me to create and build a side that can compete at NPL level.
“I am no stranger to the league that Colwyn will be playing in and with the right players I am confident we can enjoy an entertaining season.
“I want to entertain the supporters and give them a team to be proud of, one that works hard for each other, and can be recognised as a solid unit.
“My aim will be to look at the local players, along with young players currently at the club, and look to add experienced players to give us a platform to work from.
“It is a demanding league and to be successful you have to be consistent, have stability in the squad and a commitment from the players.
“It is a really exciting challenge, a fresh start for everyone and a great opportunity to create success.”
Meanwhile, the Seagulls have also welcomed a new addition to the board with Paul Edwards, who has served as assistant match secretary, match secretary and more recently club secretary, accepting an invitation to become a director.
