BLYTH SPARTANS have agreed a deal with goalkeeper Conor Grant.

The 22-year-old, who has previously played for Scottish club Gretna, has been training with the Spartans this summer and will officially join them once international clearance is received.

Speaking about the stopper, Blyth goalkeeping coach Carl King said: “He’s a composed keeper and has done well in training. He comes with a lot of experience, despite being young and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Meanwhile, David Knight has left Croft Park.

Spartans boss Tommy Cassidy had hoped to keep the ex-Histon man for 2012/13 but says Knight felt he had better options elsewhere.

“I’m disappointed to lose Knighty as he was someone that I wanted to retain for this season.

“We made him an offer to stay, but he has been involved in full-time football pretty much all his career and feels that he’ll get a better financial package elsewhere. He leaves with no bad feelings and we wish him well in the future.”
