JOSH GORDON has thanked Stafford Rangers after the striker swapped the Step 3 side for Premier League champions Leicester City.

Gordon, 22, had scored 11 times in 18 games for Stafford this season in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier and caught the eye with his performances.

Leicester took a big interest in the forward, who started his career at Stoke City before being released at 16, and he spent time on trial with the Foxes.

The ex-Newcastle Town and Nantwich man did enough to impress the Leicester hierarchy and his move was completed at the weekend.

Gordon will spend the rest of the season with Leicester’s U23s and he started the game against Manchester United on Monday night.

He has already earned comparisons to Jamie Vardy who made his way up the Pyramid from Stocksbridge Park Steels to FC Halifax Town and then Fleetwood before Leicester took a chance.

On his move, Gordon said: “I am delighted to finally announce that I have officially signed for Premier League champions Leicester City

“I am looking forward to beginning this new chapter of my life, the hard work starts now.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all the players, staff and fans at Stafford Rangers for my time at the club. I’ve enjoyed every second at the club and learned and experienced a lot.

“I wish everyone involved at the club the very best for the rest of the season and future. Thank you.”
