Grant Black has stepped down as manager of Ossett Town after nearly two years in charge.
The Evo-Stik North side have lost eight of their last nine fixtures in all competitions and a New Year’s Day defeat to rivals Ossett Albion was the final straw for Black.
Following a promising start to the season, Town have slipped to 12th and are ten points adrift of the play-off places.
Black was appointed in February 2016 and guided the club to 10th, having been third from bottom when he joined. Last season, he led the Reds into the play-offs where they eventually lost in extra time of the final to Farsley Celtic.
A club statement read: “We would like to formally acknowledge and thank Grant for the significant achievements he has brought to the first team over the last two years – we have many fantastic moments from his tenure that will live in the memories of all associated with Ossett Town and others for many years to come.”
Black’s assistant managers, Lee Ashforth and Steve Ridley, will be taking temporary charge of first team affairs as the club takes time to consider next steps.
