Supporters of North Ferriby United were given a boost yesterday evening when it was revealed that the Northern Premier League had rejected plans submitted by the club’s owner Carl Chadwick to both relocate and rename the Villagers.
Many of the club’s supporters had spent countless hours campaigning against the proposals after details were leaked a number of months ago.
Whilst the news will be music to the ears of most fans, Chadwick’s plans are not dead in the water just yet and the FA is currently considering a similar proposal.
A statement posted on the Northern League’s website last night read, “An application to relocate North Ferriby United FC to Dunswell Park, and also a change of playing name to East Hull, has been rejected by the Northern Premier League.
As a stakeholder, the NPL had been asked by The Football Association for its views on the proposed name change. The LMC determined it could not support the application being considered by The FA.
This was advised to all parties in writing on 19th December 2018.
The decision of the LMC is now subject to appeal to The Football Association, and as such the Northern Premier League will make no further comment until matters are concluded”.
