He’s spent numerous seasons at the highest level of English football but former Stoke City legend Ricardo Fuller is now preparing himself for a promotion chase in the Northern Premier League after coming out of retirement to sign for Nantwich Town this week.
The 39-year-old made almost 200 appearances for the Potters during a six year spell with the club and played a starring role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2008.
After leaving Stoke, Fuller went on to enjoy short spells with the likes of Charlton Athletic, Blackpool, Millwall and Oldham Athletic.
Over the course of his 15 year playing career Fuller became a regular in the Jamaican National Team, picking up 77 caps in total for the Reggae Boyz.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Nantwich manager Dave Cooke said: “I think it will be a massive boost for the squad and for the football club all-round, that somebody who has played in the Premier League is prepared to come down and give us his experience and play for the club.
“His experience will be fantastic. It will help the younger and older players alike, you could see it in the training sessions we did. He talked on the pitch and gave valuable information as the session was going on.
“You can’t buy that at this level – it’s a trait we lack at times and a lot of clubs can lack, his voice and communication will be something they can all learn from.”
