Workington manager Lee Andrews to step down at the season’s end

Long-standing boss Lee Andrews will step down from his role as Workington Reds manager at the end of the season.
The club have been all but-relegated from the Northern Premier League.
Saturday’s home defeat to Gainsborough Trinity saw slip nine points from safety with three games to play.
It was their eighth successive defeat at Borough Park, their worst run of home form since they lost seven consecutive games since their first season in the Football League in 1951/52.
Carlisle-based Andrews informed the board after the game of his decision, ending a long association with the club which began in 2008 and saw him give distinguished service as a player, coach and manager over the past decade.
“I share everyone’s disappointment of how the season has gone and feel the time is right for the club to move in a different direction with fresh impetus,” said the former defender.
“I’m looking forward to spending more time at home with my family because, without their support, I would have never been able to do this over the past four seasons.”
Workington added: “The club say they would like to place on record their gratitude to Lee for his dedicated service and loyalty.
“The position will be advertised imminently, with the club beginning the process to identify and appoint a new manager as soon as possible.”
