BAS BOYS TO FLY THE FLAG

BASFORD United Vets will represent the Northern Premier League at this summer’s Umbro Masters.
The NPL First Division South club’s Over 40s side – already champions of the East Midlands Veterans Premier League – booked their place in the final at Lilleshall next Sunday with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win over Manor Vets, following a 1-1 draw in normal time.
To reach the final, the veterans from Greenwich Avenue won a regional play-off after coming through a six-team group featuring six clubs from Manchester, Liverpool, Huddersfield and Derbyshire.
