LEADERS South Shields took a big step towards a fourth promotion in five seasons with an important win over FC United at a packed and rocking Mariners Park.
Shields romped home after building their fifth win in six games on a relentless first-half display.
Jason Gilchrist netted a brace either side of Josh Gillies’ strike and denied FC United an effort on goal in the first half.
