■ ALEX SMITH snatched a late point for Spalding United, heading home in the 85th minute to deny Spalding maximum points.
Sutton started the brighter and a good move ended with Max Brogan forcing a save from United keeper Michael Duggan, who then saved well from Harry Eden.
Spalding’s best effort in the first half came from Stefan Broccoli, who hit a post.
The second half began with Rhys Hilton missing a golden chance quickly followed by another gilt edge chance missed by Desean Martin.
