Mossley did squander a good opening in the first half when David Kuba-Kuba blazed over after getting into a good position.
Mossley keeper Jordan Hadlow was called upon once in the first half, rushing out to make a fine stop.
The Lilywhites introduced Mason Fawns at half-time and his influence on the game started to tell as Mossley pushed looking for a goal, but the game changed on the hour mark when Kain Dean was shown a second yellow card.
